Excitement amidst the unknown...

As our departure draws near, we ponder the unknowns about Liam. How big his he? Is he walking? Does he talk much? Does he sleep well? Is he a "smiling Jack" or is he serious? None of that really matters, but we just wonder...Here is what we do know:
As of 14 months (a year ago exactly), Liam was 75cm in height, 8.9kg weight, head size was 46cm, chest size was 48cm, and he had 6 teeth. He was learning to walk, slowly with guidance from his nanny (Auntie) holding his hands. He was busy trying to learn to walk but would decide to crawl quickly across the playroom instead. The orphanage report cites that he was so cute calling others "Mom". He would be busy in a room, crawling and making a mess wherever he played! He has quite the personality and is very cute. He loves to hear nice things from his Auntie. Could he be any more wonderful?

Why are we even wondering? I am smiling from the inside out as I read and write what he was doing a year ago, as if it were my writing in his baby book and I am reminiscing. He sounds absolutely perfect and I cannot believe he is ours!! In just three and a half short days, we will be on our way to finally holding him in our arms and not just in our hearts. I know we will be giddy over every little antic, smiling and laughing along with him as he discovers new things and afraid that our hearts will just burst with joy when we see him and Andrew playing and reading together. We are so truly blessed and the journey is just beginning!

As I run around northern VA shopping for him, my eyes catch every little child about 18-30 months old, watching what they are doing, wondering if Liam is doing the same thing. I imagine I am in the same place with him, holding his hand at the mall, eating at McDonald's, shopping for groceries, playing at the pool . Soon we will not be wondering but marveling, not only in what he can do but in how grateful and blessed we are to share it with him.
