T-minus-10

Gosh~I just wrote an entry and somehow lost it. Oh well. When I started the last post, it was Tminus 11. Now I can honestly say it is Tminus 10. Ten hours and counting til we leave to go to China! We have everything packed, or so it would seem. We have the bags pushing the weight limit, we have our passports, money and paperwork...We have our backpacks with Andrew's school work and 18 hours of reading material...We have our game faces ready! Nothing like a 25 hour day at the airport.

Whether deliriously or consciously, I feel we are ready to go but I wonder what our little guy must be thinking? Right now it is noon so he's probably eating his steamed bun and other little delicacies he has at his orphanage. I know the staff has been good about telling him about the change in his life but does he really understand? Does he know that on Wednesday, he will take a train ride for the first time? He will leave the orphanage, the Aunties, the playmates~all the people he knows in his little world. He will be introduced to a family that is larger than he can imagine, one that will be there with open arms, lots of hugs and kisses, and knowing me, tears of joy. He will get to go to the park and pool every day. He has a dog that will cover him in kisses everytime he toddles past. His little world is about to be rocked and we pray it is only in good ways.

It is hard for the little ones at orphanages to leave the only security they know. The grieving process is real for them, despite all the joy they come in to. I pray I am strong and can help him through this, especially the first few days. Andrew is so excited to be a big brother and an instant hero. Mackenzie and Patrick are anxious for the next 18 days to pass quickly so they can get their fill of little Liam. Wade and I are just giddy with joy as we imagine the hugs, the kisses, the cuddles, the laughter...I can see Liam's eyes dancing as I write!

Tonight we had a wonderful "Bon Voyage" dinner at Greg & Caroline's. Caroline made all our favorites (well, mostly MY favorites but as I am the mother to be, tonight I was the queen!) We had a wicked Wii tournament (way to go, Andrew!) and a fantastic evening of just being with family. Wade's mom, "Gramma Betty" is here and will stay with Patrick and Mac as we travel. Being together with family makes bringing Liam HOME even more special. I know in my heart, it is all good.

By the way, happy anniversary Mom & Dad! We appreciate the cards and calls from many the last few days~we treasure your kindness as we go to pick up the little guy who has stolen our hearts... MCT
